I had to do the same thing to clean my code, I've did 9 commits and put
them all together in one myself too. There's no big problem if the git
reviewer changes his mind on things, he's human and he errors too from time
to time.
On the one month period of getting packages bumped I do agree with, it's
too much. But meanwhile:
git rebase HEAD~7 ( in your case )
git merge --squash HEAD@{1}
git commit
git push ( with -f if needed )
