Chris, what do you think about using pytest in favour of the standard Python
unitttest?
I am fine with pytest. Testing is a development feature and so we can have a
different criteria for the needed dependencies.
If we're choosing pytest I'd like to see explicit documentation of what pattern
to use for which situations.
It's really easy to fall into traditional patterns for non Python languages
which means we lose advantages of going to pytest.
This sounds like a great addition to the Testing section in the new
Python Development Guidelines chapter of the engineering manual.
