This is a kernel problem. /dev/console is returning duplicate

newer kernels. It seems to be specific to the Toshiba notebooks.

Mark.

I am interested by this key repeating problem because Cygwin/XFree86 has had, for a long time now, a problem where one call to mieqEnqueue results in two or more keys showing up on the screen. We have recently determined that this is due to the keyboard repeat mechanisms in the common X Server code, but I can't seem to find a way to disable it from the X Server in a manner similar to the way that 'xset r off' can disable it from the X Client side.

Any ideas on how to essentially perform 'xset r off' without a client connection? I have searched and searched for a method to do this to no avail.

Thanks in advance for any pointers,

Harold
