I've looked all over the X sources and I was not able to find a case
where we don't supply a list. However have you tried to use
somedir/*.xpm  in InstallMultiple()? InstallMultiple()
does a 
     for i in $LIST; do...

if $LIST gets replaced by somedir/*.xpm it should do what you have in
mind.
