Last time I checked, I was told DES is still restricted for
exportation from the US to a list of countries like North Korea, Syria
or Lybia. Other countries (like France) also have various export
restrictions on crypto code.
If XFree86 wants to be freely redistribuable, it should better stay
away from crypto code in order to avoid all these regulations.
