That's not a policy in itself but just the result of what you
mentioned, the style guide (no tabs) plus pragmatic approach.

I also do this for end-of-line white space. Sometimes I overlook
things here because I don't see it, sometimes I remove it from
otherwise empty lines because I don't expect it to break anything.

Sadly, the hooks are broken at the moment. The way they are called is
only valid for short hooks. As soon as the macro is preempted (cf.
INSTRUCTION_LIMIT) NEdit cores.
