Oh if only! That and a detab! Sadly though, that might break a lot of patch
files... I think the current policy (of Thorsten's, IIRC) is to never add new
tab chars (use spaces for 4-char indents), and to remove them on lines that
will otherwise be altered. I think this is a good pragmatic solution. An
end-of-line tidy should be added to that policy.
This is the sort of thing that open/close hooks could address pretty well!
