I want to detect it so that I can mitigate arabic issues
programmatically by manually printing characters from right to left. I
know I'm fixing the side effects of this problem and not the problem
itself. And, of course, this can be easly switched off if the user needs to.

As for fixing the problem, pushing for a termcap or terminfo entry is
definitely the way to go. However, at this stage, I'd be happy with
just a good old-fashioned [reliable] environment variable that
indicates it.

The most important thing is that we should all agree on it. No use
defining a stranded if no one follows it ;)
