I wouldn't mind, but I might not be the best person when it comes to choosing names ;)
How about a global variable named BIDI_TERM? if it is set, then it is taken as an indicator that terminal supports bidi texts. variable value does not matter but must be a non-empty string. I would like to hear everyone's opinion on this. It's better to change things now rather than change all occurrences later.
