That is an interesting perspective. So let's say you upload 1TB of data. It 
dedups to 100GB, and for a year you pay for 100GB, and that's what your company 
has budgeted. Suddenly, completely unrelated other companies go out of business 
and delete all of their data, their copies disappear, leaving only yours, and 
out of the blue you are suddenly charged for 1TB of data a month? That would be 
a bit of a surprise for the accounting department.

I dunno. I just don't think I can get on board. The service provider is clearly 
advertising "I can store this much stuff for you for this much money". You gave 
them that much stuff. They stored it. I'm not seeing the lie. If they are 
really efficient in storing it, good for them. You could have always packed it 
better yourself if you wanted them to store more of it.

If some other service provider sees a market advantage in selling "compressed 
storage", more power to them, but calling the ones that don't liars and 
cheaters? That doesn't seem right.
