Hi All,
just wanted let you know about my investigations of issues with loads to Xen-4.8 in HVM mode. i was not able to boot HVM VM after installation from hard drive - can’t identify label on installed drive.
i have reverted changes from :
https://github.com/illumos/illumos-gate/commit/c73799dd86c25c27f5183e83584212d06d1ecebc#diff-e46bb9f72c5eff7e1c35d1e6e3722053
and i’m able to load dilos HVM VM on Xen-4.8 dom0 based on Debian 9.
boot log:
https://paste.dilos.org/?4df4065bcd42faba#zlzrFS95OtQNodT95boDyl+rtPmZJfyMp9WG0nbPJ4k=
by this email i just wanted let you know about degradations after some updates with xen drives - nothing else.

Indeed, "there was an issue, but I won't even provide the details, because dilos ..., dilos ..., dilos ..., dilos....".
i have provided details - paste with full loads without this update.

Which are useless.

it is paste how it failed before rolllback of changes:
https://paste.dilos.org/?2fd1ff3476eb86d5#hOAex/RQ28fq6D40ew/3LivUyautUZ4A9Cjx3J/xyZs=

And this is what should have been there from the start, along with the list of related changes you have integrated in dilos.

Try installing to the xdf-backed disk instances as the change you mentioned makes cmdk a stub and it will not attach to their ata-backed counterparts.

i do original setup by virt-manager - attach ISO and setup - the same logic what is using by others who try to do setup another illumos distribution to Xen environment. if you do anything else - you should provide details - how to try to do another setup - how to hack system before setup - you didn’t do it.

i just provided info - how i loaded new build to xen-4.8 environment - just rolled back one commit and produced debug build - nothing else.

my email contain all info about my tests.
you can try to do the same - revert commit - prepare OI iso - and try to load it to xen-4.10 or another - by original steps: attach ISO and install system to hard drive and boot from it.

What I really need to do is stop reading about dilos and replying your messages. Sorry for the noise, have fun!

what details you need ?
i have provided details with setup - it is Xen-4.8 based on Debian 9 and what i did for loads of debug build - full details in this email.
i’ll investigate issue with
1. xdf@51712, xdf0
2. xdf0 is /xpvd/xdf@51712
3. /xpvd/xdf@51712 (xdf0) online
4. WARNING: xdf@832: disk failed to connect
5. WARNING: xdf@832: attach failed
1. WARNING: PV access to device disabled:
   /pci@0,0/pci-ide@1,1/ide@0/cmdk@0,0
but it probably related to Xen-4.8 API changes.

And this *is* most likely where the real problem is, see https://www.illumos.org/issues/9244 (it says 4.10, but I didn't really test 4.8).
you provided info about Citrix Xen Server, but my stup based on another env what i wanted to provide with details.
