Dear Mailinglist Participants, As discussed on last leadership meeting, significant new features introduced into ZoL should also be announced on the OpenZFS mailinglist, to ensure other platforms have a headsup and a chance to review before merger.
Anyway: For some time, and as you all known, we have had multiple ZSTD implementations open on the ZoL repository. One from Allan Jude, which was unfinished and, albeit regularly rebased, quite stale and One working from Sebastian "Brainslayer" Gottschall which had some mixed reactions when it comes to code quality. The past weeks Michael "c0d3z3r0" Niewöhner, Sebastian "Brainslayer" Gottschall and Myself, Kjeld "Ornias1993" Schouten-Lebbing, have been working on getting things working, tested and fully "cleaned up" when it comes to code quality. The "end result" (or rather "Ready to review" result"), is a new PR, which cherry picks, in our opinion, the best design decisions from both previous PR's and goes above and byond to have a stable and maintainable ZSTD implementation on ZFS. We all cordially invite any interested party to have a look and/or review the work done: https://github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/pull/9735 Yours Sincerely, Kjeld Schouten-Lebbing Aka Ornias1993 ------------------------------------------ openzfs: openzfs-developer Permalink: https://openzfs.topicbox.com/groups/developer/T29e5fd795659d287-Mb81624985d30d995680f8db8 Delivery options: https://openzfs.topicbox.com/groups/developer/subscription
