the best, but I'd like to get @behlendorf's take on @avg-l's analysis. I'd
also like for those changes to be tested (presumably on FreeBSD or Linux since
the problem is easy to reproduce there). If you guys don't have time for that,
then I'll take the pull request as proposed.
