KVM on what? SmartOS? Linux? FreeBSD? (I thought FreeBSD used bhyve now. And I think bhyve runs OmniOS, see https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-virtualization/2015-October/003833.html ) ANYWAY, if you can tell me more about the KVM setup you have, I can see why the sudden reboot happens. As for OmniOS on virtualized environments: - Matt already pointed out OmniOS works well on VMware. There was historical need for a virtual floppy, as documented here http://omnios.omniti.com/wiki.php/VMwareNotes - but I installed LTS from ISO recently w/o this workaround. - DO NOT USE THE r151012 AWS image. There are newer ones, but the wiki hasn't been updated. I'm getting the people who spun the new AWS images to update the wiki. - OmniOS works well on virtualbox too. I just installed LTS (r151014) on (the latest) VirtualBox for MacOS on my home MacBook Pro. I wish you'd asked the OmniOS list about OmniOS problems. Someone would've been able to help you, especially if you've ZFS bits to test. > * Booting the Vagrant file from that same website.
