Yes, useful for checking, though he did it only with 250 or so MPs and it
was to do with whether they had received negative press coverage, not
measuring their use of expenses against safety of their seat (obviously it's
hard to compare different MPs' use of expenses because of things like
differing travel distances/cost of property in their constituency, but it
should be possible to do some kind of comparison that is a bit better than
going by the Telegraph). It was quite flawed but as you say useful for
comparison.
