Aha, I was hoping for something more systematic. Hmmmm. There is something *very* odd about this whole situation you know, though I expect the closer to Westminster you get the less odd it seems. You will see on the list a reception a member of my former chambers (Andrew Slaughter MP) organised for us to have a party to impress potential clients (solicitors mainly). Now I've always wondered about the propriety of that. Sure, we paid for it (and Andrew thought it was a good deal for Parliament - I've no idea) but its privileged access for us that other chambers (who don't have MPs) can't drum up. Surely, if Parliament is being used for private do's it ought to be open to the market in the normal way? Sorry if that sounds very Thatcherite. Bear in mind my imagination was always caught by the idea of Miles Kington that Bills should be able to carry advertising to supply more income for the running of Parliament as in the Liverpool Abolition and Glenfiddich Bill). -- Francis Davey _______________________________________________ Mailing list [email protected] Archive, settings, or unsubscribe: https://secure.mysociety.org/admin/lists/mailman/listinfo/developers-public
