Hi, Thanks everybody for the feedback, it is just for UK postcodes that we are doing it, we are going to have to do a one off 'bulk' run (2000 records or so) and then it'll be a handful (less than 10) a day (or so).
So, i'm not expecting to bash the services :) I'd like to use mapit as I would like to learn how to use it properly cheers, mark On 11 August 2011 10:42, Francis Irving <[email protected]> wrote: > No, you're not allowed to use Google's geocoding except for the > purpose of placing pins on Google Maps. > > "the Geocoding API may only be used in conjunction with a Google map; > geocoding results without displaying them on a map is prohibited" > http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/geocoding/#Limits > > For postcodes, mapit definitely the best bet. > > Nobody I can find offers a decent, free, international geocoding service, > that isn't rate limited, and you can use for any purpose.
