I have removed the mention of email addresses from the unsubscribe page; note that the page just prints back what is given to it, the only reason they are found by Google is because people post links to their own unsubscribe links, e.g. you wouldn't find http://lists.tartarus.org/mailman/options/putty-announce/[email protected] in Google (though you might do now in time!). I must repeat what others have said, that this is a public mailing list, with a public archive, as it says on the signing up page; and that obfuscation is no barrier to receiving spam. Here's a note from 2003 showing that, even back then, "web data extractors" are perfectly capable of dealing with simple alterations: http://www.unicom.com/node/173 I would recommend cutting the unsubscribe line from your footer, as that is the source of the pages you mention; if you don't post your own unsubscribe link, there's no way for Google to discover and index it, which is what has happened here. For example, you will not find my email address on Google in the developers-public archive by performing a search like you just linked to, as I always trim my replies (you'll find it in plenty of other places).
