Afaik cached don't timeout. What you could do as a work around for the moment is just empty the caches... Furthermore it is not really hard to get multicast working. It has been changed in newer versions of 1.7, but IIRC you're usig 1.7.1 and it is not much more than setting distinct machine-names and the multicast ip and port, and it should work. Of course provided that multicast can be sent.
