I don't think it shoudl be in core.
The oscache code is an alternate implementation, which depends on
3rd party software, and therefor should be in either applications
(if people feel the community should maintain the code) or
contributions (if they don't). It should definitely not be the
default.
I believe everybody agrees this code should be part of MMBase and it
seems that this discussion is building up to a vote: whether to make
it a contribution or an application. In the last case if you vote +1
you agree to maintain it as part of MMBase in general. Well Johannes,
you should cast one...
