Seems like we need to use the annotate option instead of the draw option in the 
future:

Yes. But I didn't read the new doc of image magick yet. Undoubtly they
would have provided an alternative if the syntax changed. And there must
have been some reason for that (perhaps, e.g. because the '@' syntax
makes it impossible to start a text with '@'..).

Let's hope it is a bug, and '@' is merely broken... Then we can simply
advert that you should not use those versions of image magick then, but I
fear, as you, that it's not like that..
