Johannes Verelst wrote:
Hi all,
Last week I posted an RFC concerning development of an MMBase API for
frameworks, to allow generic components to be built on top of MMBase
that can be truly shared between different frameworks. In order to get
this process on the road, I would like to propose an MMBase project.
Project leader: Myself, and I would like to ask Andre van Toly as a
co-leader
Project goal: To deliver a a formal specification of a Framework API
and a Component API, which allows components to be written in a way
that allows them to run in a multitude of different frameworks. There
will be a formal specification for components, to which people must
adhere if they want to create mmbase-compliant components.
For more details, I refer to my mail of last week. That document will
be the starting point for the project.
The exact project deliverables will need to be discussed by the
project members, but they will include code that must be added to the
current HEAD CVS. If possible, it can be backported to 1.8 also.
The first project meeting, the kickoff, will be held wednesday, june
7, at 15:00 at the EO.
All committers, please vote on one of these options. Non-committers
can also vote, but their votes will not be counted. Ofcourse our brand
new 2 committors are also invited to vote (although the votes on their
status have not formally been counted, I believe they both passed the
threshold).
