The problem is that there are very few people available to test it.I think it's remarkable that MMBase doesn't really support Oracle actively
Those companies that do use Oracle seem mostly not interested to participate in the Open Source part of the community. The few that do (such as you and Rob), quickly feel discouraged, which is sad, but cannot be blamed on those developers that simply don't have an Oracle database to test on. very often in these cases, an individual effeort has to be made. It's a nasty element in OS: people quickly rely on others to fix things. Try not to get demotivated. Your efforts ARE appreciated.
I tested your classes a year ago, but I had a very hard time installing a Oracle client (hey, I'm a coder, not a dba-er). Since my system crashed I have not attempted to re-install it again.
It's not dropped. I merely suggested to treat it as a hack because it seems quite a change and adds a reference to another lib. We also have to change the build.ps. I know this is flame material, but Rob has made a decent suggestion which is dropped with excuses for arguments
I think that, in general, people will want this code.
The question is if we want to use it in 1.6 so shortly for the release.
That is for to the releasemanager to decide.
