> Why should we update release notes ?

Because it has to be up to date :)

I knew people could read this wrong, i meant:
why should the developers update release notes, instead of the release team. :-)

At the moment it's to much work to get the information from the
bugtracker and I'm afraid this will allways be the case.

Why? Can this be easily solved by adding some extra functionality into the bug tracker ?
e.g. a checkbox that indicates if the bug should be added to the release notes, and maybe an extra release note description ?

It's very easy:

- file a bug in the bugtracker
- fix the bug
- close the bug in the bugtracker
- if it's an import bugfix add it to the releasenotes.

At least you have time enough during the cvs commits to decide if a fixed bug is 'important' enough, although i think that it's a task of the release team.
