Well, it can, but the aliascache will not refresh if you change an aliasnode directly.
aliascache ... now there's the word I was waiting for :-)

Maybe it should (even though changing aliasnodes directly is a dirty way to handle aliasses).
If you think it should, add it to the bugtracker.
ok .. what do you propose as a better way to go ?
can I change aliases "indirectly" ?
can I force the aliascache to refresh ?
