Why would they not use the bridge ? 'complex' actions are now hacked into jsp pages instead of classes (that use the bridge). Functions provide a way to give frontend developers
better tools (better abstraction). We can (and should in most cases) demand that they use the bridge).
This abstraction can be build into classes that are used by a framework. And the framework can supply taglibs to get information from these classes.
