[MMBase-1.7] branch?

Hello everybody,

I'm thinking about creating an MMBase-1_7 branch, so active development 
can begin in cvs-head.
There are 2 ways how this branch can be created:

1. Create a branch for everything
2. Create a branch for the core and maybe a seperate branch for the 
applications (or only tag the applications and create a branch if 
necessary).

I prefer 1, because MMBase-1.7.x will include most applications.

For 1.8 (maybe 1.9) 2 will be the best option because MMBase-core and 
MMBase-application are going to be separately developed and distributed.

What's your opinion?
