Dove and rmmci are currenty the only 2 ways of programming MMBase remotely Dove laks features api and documentation and rmmci laks language indepenence and speed. still having a good ,remote interface for importing and exporting data is very important. So I don't think that dove is "not functional" in this context. Dove is not deprecated (it's just hard to use and eats memory)
