I am currently looking into how to drop the old JDBC2NodeInterface code (and all that comes with it). It turns out to be a bit more work than I first thought, as quite a lot of code seems to be using database connections all on their own, including the search query code.

So I currently stopped toying - I rather wait until I actually have green light I can also put this in CVS.
I probably need a few days to do this propely (preferable without people changing CVS every other minute), and it will include dropping a number of methods from MMBase, MMObjectBuilder,a nd possibly more core classes.

This is part of cleaning and the storage project, and it is included in the 1.8 release plan, so I am unsure if we need a vote on this?
I definitely feel we should drop the whole bit in 1.8, or we never get rid of it.
