I am currently looking into how to drop the old JDBC2NodeInterface code (and all that comes with it). It turns out to be a bit more work than I first thought, as quite a lot of code seems to be using database connections all on their own, including the search query code.
Please only drop the code that has an alternative in storage and is backwards compatible. I am still working on a version, which supports the features that are in the old database layer.

If you still want to drop all the classes, please advise and help me with writing the new code in the storage layer(that is both backwards compatible and offers the same/better features). Im still missing some implementations, hooks to override the configuration.

Dropping the code, when all the existing functionality is in the storage is fine, but im still under the impression that some things are missing.

Which steps do you want to take in which order (with the timeframe)?
What are the conditions before you take these steps?
