These might be good ideas, but I think they must be framed in a project (or subproject) if we want to actually do something concrete with them. I too think that a performance/stability (sub)project would be rather important, and would be ready to participate. Indeed, I have done some work of it already, because I occopied with the caches (locally I have already a mechanism to plug the cache implementation (but I still have only LRUHashtable so it is not very useful yet)).
