Hi Pieter,

yes, I used Access and the data looks the way I want them to be, i.e. the connection statement works the way I want it to ...

Have you tried to use an SQL - tool to look at the data in the tables? (Query Analyzer , SQL*Plus , MS Access...)

Subject: [development-axapta] Moving data to virtual companies

Hi everybody,

I am currently trying to move data from a normal company
into a virtual one. I don't want to lose the system information
(created by, createdDate etc.) so I do not want to export /
import the information.
Instead, I am using a Connection to change the information in the
DataAreaID to the virtual company's id. This works all right,
as I can see in the database.
BUT: In Axapta I do not see the information for both of the
two companies that are assigned to the virtual company. Whether
or not the data is displayed seems to depend on the correct
sequence of
- defining the table collection
- assigning a company to the virtual company
- modifying the DataAreaID

But I just don't manage to figure out a reliable way to follow
so that the data of all tables are displayed in all companies
assigned to the virtual company. Maybe it also is an issue
whether or not the data is being moved from a company that later
is assigned to the virtual company (which is the case here, of
course).

BTW: I closed and restarted my Axapta client several times in
between, so that possibility may be ruled out.

Maybe anybody can provide further insights as to how the virtual
companies / table collections / data export/import features work
together. Actually, I don't understand why this may cause any
problems at all.

Thanks in advance!

Have a nice day, Annette

Mit freundlichen Gren / Best regards
