As I understand it, what you want is to delete a dimension like
department “Home” and at the same time make sure that it is not present
in any table.
Why not just loop thro all tables that has a column called dimension,
dimension2_ or dimension3_, depending on what dimension, department,
centre or purpose you’re referring to and then set the value to
“empty“, and after that delete the dimension you don’t want to use.
from eg. sqlplus you type something like.
update table ledgertable set dimension = '' where dimension = 'HOME';
