Yes it is one of those, I think 'green caviar' or something.
I've searched for this kind of solutions, but what I found is tipically an 
application that write somthing periodically on the HD. I'll try to search 
better.
On linux you can do something via some kernel setting or something more 
advanced.

Can I  crontab with fonera so every 10' I can touch a file?
