Hello,
sorry for the html email :)
In the end I managed to restore it using redboot. The instructions were
perfect. I read somewhere in the blog that the default failsafe image
was broken, so it would explain why it refused any kind of firmware I
tried to upload. I flashed Tantor, then from the web interface I jumped
straight to 2.3.7.0 beta2.
The latest firmware works very well when used as a 3G router, however
the supported internet key list is quite limited.
What information do you need to add a new internet key? USB device info?
Chipset used inside?
It would be great if something like they did on TP-Link 3G router could
be implemented: the ability to upload new "profiles" to extend internet
keys recognition without waiting for a new firmware release.
Keep up the good work,
Niccolo'

Hi Niccolo',
On a last note: Could you please send e-mails to the list in "text"
format, not html-only?

I connected to 192.168.1.1 and logged in with admin and serial
number. Since it asked again for a FON file, I uplaoded
20081222_FON2202_2.2.1.0_TANTOR.fon again. But after a couple of
minutes it says:<br>
Did you see
http://wiki.fon.com/wiki/Firmware_Restore#Restore_Fonera_2.0g_firmware
?
This suggests that a normal, signed .tar.gz should work. I have heard
reports of the latest betas not working in failsafe mode, but I'm
pretty sure that Flipper should work. Perhaps you could try Flipper
again? Also, make sure that you're really downloading the .tar.gz file
and that your browser has not conveniently un-gzipped the file for you
(I've heard reports of browsers doing this...).
If the failsafe flashing really doesn't work, the other options you can
try are redboot (if it's enabled on your device), or serial (needs a
USB UART (TTL voltages), not a full RS232 serial port)
Gr.
Matthijs
