Very weird, especially since all the pings and routes work.
Can you get the package on your laptop? type:
wget --passive-ftp -q -P /tmp/ipkg-GRI9wX
http://buildhost.openmoko.org/snapshots/2007.08/ipk/all/Packages.gz
(that's all on one line, as you realize I'm sure)
