Can you explain please?

Yes, I am on github, but I'm not going to be contributing anything.

There have been many git discussions at the ASF over the years. I confess
that I'm not in touch with the latest status/discussions. But I will do
what I can to help.

Please take a look at:
https://blogs.apache.org/infra/entry/improved_integration_between_apache_and
http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/www-infrastructure-dev/201406.mbox/browser
https://git-wip-us.apache.org/
etc.

Creating a private git repo and having some people collaborate there is not
a positive step for the Devicemap community, from an ASF perspective.
Working with the local community, Incubator, and Infrastructure to
identify/address your problems is a good step.
