I think that the FAQ entry above is not really current.

This is what I did to install a development environment on e-smith 4.1.2
(all taken from stock redhat 7.0)

rpm -Uvh cpp-2.96-54.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh glibc-devel-2.1.92-14.i386.rpm kernel-headers-2.4.0-0.26.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh make-3.79.1-5.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh libstdc++-devel-2.96-54.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh glib-devel-1.2.8-4.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh gcc-2.96-54.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh gcc-c++-2.96-54.i386.rpm

I'd like to receive confirmation if it seems right.
