If you go back to read earlier messages in the thread, you'll see:

 Dyndns requires that you "update" your info every 30 to 35 days or they
 will cancel your account, but that they don't want you updating more
 often if your IP is constant.

So no, we don't want to do a daily check or an hourly check.

A daily check might be a good idea, but only if it included a check to see
that the IP is different, or sufficient time has elapsed since the last
update to comply with the policies of the DDNS service. Implementing such
checks is on our TODO list.
