These links seem to be owned by Charlie's e-smith-nfs and e-smith-nis 
respectively... verifying the packages in question confirms that they are 
missing, and a forced reinstall gets everything going again...

How do we avoid these links getting killed during the post-upgrade and 
post-install events?  (if possible)

Gawd... I should have thought of that myself... (hangs head in shame)

Mozilla 0.9.4 has the same problem... as does Galeon 0.12.. as does Netscape 
4.78 (except it doesn't display the table as above)
