Just thinking out load but is this what might be happening....

1) message comes in for unknown [EMAIL PROTECTED]
2) postmaster returns to sender
3) sender is mailing list that does except from [EMAIL PROTECTED] and
returns to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
4) postmaster forwards to designated local admin
5) designated admin mailbox fills up with postmaster error messages

Does this sound like the possible scenario? The headers would confirm but
I can't get at them until tomorrow.

If this is the case then maybe an smtpd_check_rules block may be the
solution. Block all emails coming in on the external interface addressed
directly to the postmaster. Don't know if this might 'break' something.

Regards,
