        I had the same result (more specifically, it seemed to be
mondo-tarme that died and dumped core, but at least mondo-tarme is a
binary, not a script). His FAQ has this to say:

Q: Mondo-tarme returns an error. It doesn't run, it just bombs.
Mondo-archive bombs as a result. What do I do?
A: Install from tarball instead of RPM. Your compiler may be fubar.
We'll see.

        I couldn't install from tarball on the SME 5.1.2 machine (yet), so I
built from the source RPM on a stock redhat 7.1 box, then installed
that RPM.  Same result.  I'm e-mailing Hugo with the logs and such;
maybe he'll be able to figure out something.
