We've been talking about that in-house, and I've done some of the work to put it together. The "including contribs" idea came to me in response to views you and others had expressed about having contribs at hand on CDROM, but I haven't discussed the idea with anyone here yet. > updated monthly via rsync. [Updated from where to where?] My thoughts were that the ISO would only be available via rsync, to keep bandwidth usage down, to facilitate regular updates and to restrict availability to the technically competent. It would be a developers release after all, and not for production use. > then for some examples I've finished two so far. An excellent start, although I don't like the idea of RAV being included, since it is a commercial application. > For those interested in building a preconfigured server, all you need is to > create a reinstallation disk, edit the ks.cfg file and use the > reinstallation disk & development CD to autobuild your server to your > specs. Rather than have two contrib repositories, I think it would be better for ftp.e-smith.org to continue to be the primary repository. To minimise to amount of human intervention necessary to update the repository, it would be preferably is we can mirror to the ftp.e-smith.org contrib directory from your home sites, with a strong preference for doing it via anonymous rsync (a HOWTO and probably an e-smith-anonymous-rsync RPM will be forthcoming). > To keep this as small as possible, do not include src rpms but I suggest in > your README.txt file list where your src rpms may be downloaded. Since it would be a developers release, it's important that the src RPMs are available. Whether they go on the ISO or not is another issue. -- Charlie Brady [EMAIL PROTECTED] Lead Product Developer Network Server Solutions Group http://www.e-smith.com/ Mitel Networks Corporation http://www.mitel.com/ Phone: +1 (613) 368 4376 or 564 8000 Fax: +1 (613) 564 7739 -- Please report bugs to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] (only) to discuss security issues Support for registered customers and partners to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives by mail and http://www.mail-archive.com/devinfo%40lists.e-smith.org
