Which functions do not work? 

For some reason when I think of ACL and IMAP "Cyrus" comes into my head.
Check it out for a starting point.

Well - the development team would first have to find a way to restrict
the licensing, then find a way to make sure it wasn't upgradeable to
newer versions. Then they would need to bloat the software to a point
that it would require more than one server to run on thereby defeating
the purpose of an all in one box. Then they would need to drop support
for half the modules to make sure it only ran on "supported" hardware.

functionality to a point that it is barely usable. Then all they would
have to do is charge ~$2000.00 for each and every copy of the software.

Then you'd be close....
