Guys bear with me here. I've been looking at BackupEDGE for two days only. It appears to me that the 'edge' commandline interface does not build/add to the tape database. Only backups run using the 'edgemenu' gui build/add to the tape database. The tape database makes selective restores easy by allowing you to view and select from a visable dir/file list.
