Hi All, I Use a virtual ftp domain system using the domain name as the ftp username. This allows a user to access their web space although this does not offer all of the facilities that a dedicated server would. If a user requires extra usernames or different paths, the usernames are suffixed (bob.domain.com) These are all held in a mysql table and are administered via a web interface but this could be done in many ways.
Also, using exim gives a very powerful email system with virus scanning and virtual domain routing which also is based on a mysql database and qpopper for collection although this may change. However, I do feel that sme server should remain focussed on intranet server usage, not internet server as if it ends up as another "does everything" product, it may loose its edge and add complication. I think it should offer small companies an alternative to spending 5k on an installed ms exchange server of which they use only 10% of the features and do not have the ease of use and reliability of the sme server. my 2 pennies.
