VMware Workstation is our friend...  :)  Both developers and sysadmins 
here use it frequently for testing and development purposes.  Especially 
handy is the undoable/persistent disk feature, where writes are logged to 
a secondary file.  Great way to start-over fresh without having to 
reinstall your operating system.

The Linux Journal recently ran an series of articles covering VMware GSX 
Server - also interesting, but at $3500 US, a bit more costly.  :)
