IMO, in the immediate short term it is best to maintain stability and status
quo. In this regard I suggest in the short term we do not port SME to
anything. We graciously accept the SME6.0 final iso from Mitel, expected in
about two weeks. We maintain it as the stable base that it is (as best we
can), possibly enhance it with a small group of proven contribs, and we work
toward the release our first SME6.1 community release. Major milestone
number one!

Past the immediate short term, I'm in full agreement with you that RHEL
(which White Box Enterprise Linux is based on) is an excellent viable option
to consider, however, as with all RHEL/GPL platforms that are emerging, they
are all in new development (Release Candidate #2). No need to rush to this
just yet. No need to rush to Fedora just yet. No need to make any
significant changes just yet. At least for the immediate short term.

>From what I have ascertained, we (the community) have been asked to assist
contribs.org in establishing an effective community site. Contribs.org is
working on defining an operational roadmap. Once completed contribs.org
will seek volunteers to assist in achieving operational goals. This
operational infrastructure includes the portal, contribs/iso/Howto storage,
forums, mailing list, bug tracking, etcetera. Once all these areas are
operational contribs.org and this community will be in a position to move
onto defining a development roadmap. All this will take time. Possibly
even a few months.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Valuable projects take time.

Just my opinions.
