It will be very, very difficult to develop a really suitable and
effective "think cash" system which won't annoy the hell out of
users.

Freenet is quite suitable for messaging (unless you require
spam-proofness, and almost all other messaging systems which are not
moderated are not spam-proof, including normal email).
