Well, this is how I'm doing it now:
CHK encryption key = make_key(hash(data))
i.e., NO padding.
I can't see how doing make_key(data) would make things easier, but
if people want this, I don't care.
What doesn't make sense to me is using data+padding to generate
the encryption key. It would make the code unnecessarily complicated,
without serving any purpose.
